- Yup... you've got to extrude the thing, translate the extruded points back
- and scale them down slightly. Steve Blackmon has a really good tutorial
- up on his site:

- BTW, poke around the site a bit.... he's really good.

- To do this pumpkin I created the basic shape, duplicated it (copy/paste),
- then scaled down the copy slightly and joined the copy back to the original.
- I created a separate object much like a cookie cutter to slice the face
- through the two "skins".
-
- Then comes the tedious part. You must carefully select, join, and merge
- the resulting pieces into the final object and then work along the edges
- of the cuts making them sharp edges.
-
- Good luck. If you just need a pumpkin and don't want to do all the work,
- let me know and I'll send you a copy of this one...

- Best bet (but not the only way) is to take two primitive spheres -
- make one smaller - put inside larger. Slice into both with whatever shapes
- you have. Start deleting anything extraneous to the pumpkin but create
- subgroups by picking all faces with all of your objects before joining.
- That way you can easily color or texturize the shell, the inside and the
- cut area. Another nice touch is to get the boundary edges on your subgroup
- objects, fracture, smooth.. This makes it look less artificial.

- I made a pumpkin a while back, I used the Forms editor, a new object with
- maybe triple the default number of cross section points and slices. Then, I
- moved the points in the cross section view so that the shape resembled a
- flower. Poof, instant pumpkin. It had to have thickness too, so I put a
- sphere inside it and Joined the two objects. I then sliced out the eyes,
- nose mouth, and lid. There are a couple of animated gifs of this object at
